I would say that as soon as you've introduced Read to Self and maybe Work on Writing, and have completed your I Charts lessons, you could start using your mini-lesson time to begin your content area lessons.
When you feel your class is independent and has stamina to work through those times during the rounds between your mini-lessons, then you can pause your content lessons to introduce word work or read to someone/listen to reading.
