Departmentalizing using Penseive

Has anyone found an effective and user friendly way to utilize the online pensieve tool while conferring with students from multiple classes? It is very time consuming to switch the strategy groups for multiple classes weekly and sometimes daily. Any advice or recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

I'm not exactly sure what you mean, but see if this helps. I see kids from multiple classes on a daily basis. I add all the kids on to my class with a "code" in front of their names (like a number for the grade level or a symbol like * so that they'll all appear together in the list). Then I create groups based on whom I see together. It's easy to click on the groups this way. When I change the members of a group, it's easy to do an edit and add/delete names.

Is there a way to split the group of ckids when using the "checking in" option? I have my two classes in two different groups, but when I click on "check in" they are all there on the list

The best way to do this is to add something to the beginning of the kids' names in each group so the Pensieve will automatically sort them. For example, if you put a '1' in front of all the kids in your first group and '2' in front of the kids in your second group, all the 1's show up first and the 2's following. You could separate them even further by labeling them 1a, 1b, 1c, etc.

If you've already put in names, you can go back to each child's names, edit and add the code you want--you'll only have to do that once.
